Sweepy Privacy Policy

Sweepy is a local-first Windows disk assistant from DeepSData. This policy explains what Sweepy processes on your computer, which features connect to the internet, what the optional AI assistant can see, and the choices you have. The short version: the scan and analysis run on your own computer, Sweepy does not upload your files, and the AI assistant is optional and off by default.

Version 1.0 (international) · Effective 20 June 2026

This policy applies to the international edition of Sweepy. Sweepy is provided by DeepSData, operated by 数聚天成(深圳)数据智能有限公司. You can reach us at contact@deepsdata.com.

1. Our approach to privacy

Sweepy is a Windows desktop tool for understanding your disk space and cleaning up safely. Its core idea is simple: let you see clearly first, then you decide whether anything is removed.

  1. Disk scanning, space analysis, finding files, duplicate detection, folder inspection and cleanup previews run on your computer by default.
  2. Sweepy does not delete, move or rename your files without your confirmation.
  3. Sweepy does not upload the original contents of your files, your full real paths, or a complete listing of your files.
  4. Some features — the AI assistant, checking for updates, sending feedback, and purchases — connect to a server or a third-party service only when you choose to use them.
  5. The AI assistant only offers suggestions. It never deletes, moves or renames anything by itself.

2. What stays on your computer

By default, the following is processed only on your own computer and is not uploaded:

ActivityProcessed locallyUploaded by default
Disk scan, space analysisFile sizes, types, folder usage, free spaceNo
Find large files / find filesFile names, extensions, sizes, locationsNo
Duplicate detectionFile sizes, file checksums, local pathsNo
Folder view & cleanup previewFile names, types, sizes, preview listNo
Photo organizingLocal metadata such as capture time and dimensionsNo
UndoLocal action records, before/after locationsNo

Sweepy does not read the contents of your images, messages or documents in order to scan your disk.

3. Which features connect to the internet

The features below connect to the internet only when you actively use them:

  • The AI assistant ("ask Sweepy"). Sends your question and a de-identified summary of the relevant scan results, to generate explanations and suggested actions.
  • AI naming / re-categorizing (if offered). Sends the file names, extensions and a short opening excerpt of the documents you have authorized, to suggest names or a category scheme that you then confirm.
  • Checking for updates. Sends the current version number and basic system information, to tell you whether a newer version exists.
  • Feedback. Sends what you write, an optional contact detail, the version number, a system summary, free-disk summary and a recent log excerpt, so we can investigate and reply.
  • Purchases. If you buy a paid version, the store or payment provider handles the order; we receive only the result needed to grant your entitlement.

Opening the app does not automatically upload your scan results, and none of these features upload the original contents of your files.

4. The AI assistant — off by default

In the international edition, the AI assistant is off by default. The disk breakdown and safe-cleanup tools work fully on your computer with the assistant turned off. In the European Economic Area (EEA), the AI assistant is turned off and cannot be enabled in this release.

If you choose to turn the AI assistant on, here is what it can see:

AI scenarioSent to the AIReal full path?File names?File contents?
Cleanup advice / "what is this?"De-identified summary: rough location category, extension, size, risk level, software categoryNoUsually noNo
Ask Sweepy (chat)Your question and a de-identified summary; when finding files by name, the matched file names may be includedNoPossiblyNo
AI naming / re-categorizingAuthorized file names, extensions, and up to about 600 characters from the start of each documentNoYesOpening excerpt only

Real full paths are replaced with a "ticket number" or a rough location category. The AI does not need your real user name, your full folder structure, or absolute local paths.

5. What we never upload on our own

Unless you actively choose to send it to us, Sweepy does not upload:

  1. The original contents of your files.
  2. Image contents.
  3. Message contents or message databases.
  4. Full document text.
  5. Real full paths or a complete file listing.
  6. Passwords, keys or login tokens.
  7. Browser cookies or payment passwords.

The feedback feature attaches a recent log excerpt, but it tries to strip your home directory, user name, passwords, keys and tokens; the feedback dialog tells you what diagnostic information will be included before you send.

6. AI features and third-party models

Sweepy's AI features may call a third-party large language model service, routed through an AI gateway we operate.

  1. AI-generated suggestions, explanations, names and categories are for reference only.
  2. The AI does not delete, move or rename files directly; every real action goes through the product's execution layer and your confirmation.
  3. We do not use the contents of your files to train our own models.
  4. Whether a third-party model provider retains request logs, for how long, or uses inputs for training, is governed by that provider's settings, interface terms and published policies. Until we have completed that verification, we do not promise on a provider's behalf that it "never retains" or "never trains on inputs"; we will name the provider and its terms in this policy before general release.
  5. AI-generated content is labelled "AI-generated / AI-assisted — for reference only" in the interface and in any report or export.

You can turn the AI assistant off at any time in settings. With it off, local scanning, analysis and cleanup previews still work; the chat assistant and AI naming do not.

International processing. If you turn the AI assistant on, your AI requests may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in China, by our gateway and the third-party model provider. The local analysis and cleanup features do not require this and do not send data abroad.

7. Records of high-risk actions

So that nothing happens "behind your back," Sweepy keeps a local record of high-risk actions such as recursive organizing, AI naming, bulk re-categorizing, merging folders and emptying the Recycle Bin. A record typically includes the action type, the risk notice you saw, a preview-list identifier, the time, the result, and the undo status. These records are kept mainly on your computer, to support undo, troubleshooting and showing what actually happened. They are not a tamper-proof vault, but the product tries to make tampering detectable through append-only records and hash chaining.

8. Feedback and diagnostics

When you send feedback, Sweepy sends: what you wrote, an optional contact detail, the version number, a system summary, a free-disk summary, your sign-in and AI-quota status (if applicable), and a recent log excerpt. This is used to investigate and reply. Feedback should not contain file originals, full document text, passwords, keys or tokens; recent logs are de-identified for your user name and home directory where possible. If you would rather not send feedback in-app, you can email us only what you choose to share.

9. Payments and the app store

If you buy Sweepy through the Microsoft Store or another channel, payment, orders and refunds are handled by that channel or its payment provider. For Microsoft Store purchases, refunds and order handling generally follow the store's rules. We do not receive your full card number or payment password.

10. Data retention

  1. Local scan, cleanup and undo records are stored on your computer and controlled by you.
  2. Local cleanup records may be kept for the most recent batches, to support undo and troubleshooting.
  3. Feedback, server error logs and AI-gateway security logs are kept only for as long as needed for support, troubleshooting and security auditing.
  4. Where law, regulation, dispute resolution or security auditing requires longer retention, that requirement applies.
  5. Once the purpose is met, we delete or anonymize the information.

11. Your choices and rights

You can, through the product or by email:

  1. Access, copy, correct or delete the related data stored on your computer.
  2. Turn the AI assistant off.
  3. Withdraw authorization for AI content reading or bulk organizing.
  4. Ask us to explain how information about you is handled.
  5. Ask us to delete or anonymize the feedback you submitted, except where retention is required by law or to resolve a dispute.

Contact contact@deepsdata.com. To protect you, we may need to verify your identity and the scope of your request first. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local data-protection law; we will honour applicable rights.

12. Children

Sweepy is a general-purpose tool for Windows users and is not directed at children. Minors should use it under the guidance of a guardian. If we learn we have inadvertently collected a child's personal information, we will delete it or take other steps as required by law.

13. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information: local processing by default; de-identification before any AI request leaves your computer; a separate confirmation before high-risk actions; feedback logs stripped of user name, home directory, passwords, keys and tokens where possible; no back-end keys stored in the client; and locally verifiable records of key actions. Please understand that no software can guarantee absolute security — keep your own backups of important files.

14. What we don't do

  1. We do not sell your personal information.
  2. We do not run third-party ads.
  3. We do not bundle other software.
  4. We do not use scare pop-ups to push you into cleaning.
  5. We do not delete, move or rename files without your confirmation.
  6. We do not upload file originals or full paths to scan your disk.

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in an important way, we will let you know in the product, on this page or in another suitable place. The version and effective date shown here is the one in effect.
