Key facts
Contents & fields
This dataset is a raster DEM in GeoTiff format, each tile 5km×5km aligned to the Ordnance Survey National Grid. Spatial resolution is 2m, elevations in metres referenced to Newlyn (St Marys for Isles of Scilly). Data is merged from LIDAR and multibeam SONAR using a bespoke feathering technique; small gaps interpolated bilinearly. Metadata index catalogues indicate source survey data for each location.
- Elevation——elevation value in metres
- LIDAR——LIDAR source data
- Bathymetry——multibeam SONAR bathymetry data
- Surface type——type of surface
- Coastal monitoring region——coastal monitoring region
- Geoidal model——geoidal model used
- Transformation model——transformation model used
Research uses
Suitable for coastal terrain analysis, inter-tidal geomorphology, flood inundation modelling, coastal erosion monitoring, and environmental modelling of land-sea transition zones.

Why this is hard to get on your own
When obtaining high-resolution inter-tidal DEMs, fusion of multiple data sources is often required; this dataset provides a ready-made product, but license restrictions need attention.
