A near-global digital elevation model (DEM) at ~30 m resolution derived from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), covering land between 60°N and 56°S, archived by NASA LP DAAC.

SRTMGL1 V003 data are provided in 1°×1° tiles with .HGT extension. Each tile contains a single elevation band in 16-bit signed integer (int16) with units in meters. The following variable is documented:

  • DEM——Elevation in meters, data type int16, fill value -32768, valid range -32767 to 32767.

Suitable for terrain analysis, hydrological modeling, surface process studies, orthorectification of remote sensing imagery, and other geoscience and ecological research requiring global 30 m DEM.
